How to Measure a Cooker Splashback

How to measure your Splashbacks UK DIY Splashback

Measuring and installing a Cooker Splashback may seem like a daunting task but it is very easy for you to do it yourself.

In this tutorial we break down the measuring process into simple steps to ensure you get the correct fit for your DIY Splashback.

Step 1 - What you need

You will need pen and paper, a measuring tape and a spirit level.

Step 2 - Measure the width

Using the tape, measure the horizontal distance between the wall units at the top of the area needing covered.

Step 3 - Check your measurement

Also measure the horizontal distance at the bottom of the wall units to check the measurement is consistent.

Step 4 - Measure the height

Using the tape, measure the vertical distance between the worktop and cooker hood on the left hand side. Then measure the distance between the worktop and cooker hood on the right hand side to check they are consistent.

Are your measurements inconsistent?

If either the width or height measurements are inconsistent, please use the spirit level to determine where the runoff should be. We would need a sketch of the shape and measurements by email, or alternatively, you can call us to place the order.

Step 5 - Expansion Gaps

Once you have your final measurements we would recommend making a slight adjustment to create an expansion gap. Please deduct 4mm off the width measurement and 2mm of the height measurement. This will leave room for expansion and also allow you to seal the edges with the adhesive to prevent any condensation etc... getting behind the glass.
